Types & Quality Of Materials
What types of material do they like to wear? Satin? Silk? Voile? Lace? See through or not? When a fabric says sheer it usually means it’s see through.
Most lingerie material is soft, but make sure it is soft, unless your partner loves stiff hard fabric? The framework of a corset or basque is stiff and fitted but the material is usually soft, whereas babydolls & chemises are usually soft and flowing. Body stockings are usually sheer but can be net, so consider this before buying. Nowadays it can be difficult to tell the difference in materials as production has advanced so much.
A Little About Colour
Then maybe think about lingerie colours? Everyone has an idea of what colour they like? don’t they? If not here are a few examples;
- Red for passion,
- White for purity
- Black for power
- Yellow for energy
- Pink for sweet/ tender
- Green for ambition, wealth and renewal
- Blue for confidence/wisdom
These are of course for guidance only, if a colour is attractive to you then go with it.
Buying lingerie as a gift can be difficult. Of course if you said’ it’s a lingerie gift of what you want to see your partner wearing, then you’d be playing safe.
Thongs are on the way out, so choose wisely here. If the person you are buying lingerie for has a fuller figure then they may not feel comfortable in a thong and/or a cut away waistline. Cover in some parts may be good, probably the waist line and maybe the hips or the bust too, it depends on the person. We are all different and what one likes the other doesn’t. If course watch the length of the item, you’ll get a good idea from the advertising pic. if in doubt send a wee email. Most companies want to help people get exactly what they are looking for.
